About Nobilis
Nobilis is the Latin form of Noble meaning: well-born or well-known and by extension possessing outstanding qualities, famous and celebrated. The word derives from the Indo-European “gno” meaning to know (gnosis).
At Nobilis Wine Importers, we understand there is a small but significant market for ‘authentic, cultural wine.’ The objective is the creation of a ‘naturally made and uniquely stamped’ wine that reflects the culture of its place. Our focus is to find and bring these products to you - a group of like-minded and dedicated clientele in Alberta.
Marc Vigneron
Some call it fate; others call it destiny. Definitively the combination of my first and last name has influenced the direction of my journey through life.
As far as I can remember, I always had a passion for wine. I still recall the Pommard or Chateauneuf that my Grandfather liked to share with the family on New Year’s Day.
Back in 1985, when I moved from France to Alberta, the most logical decision was to apply for a position in the first private wine shop to open in the province. A few years later, I became an agent and promoted a broad spectrum of wine from all over the world.
In 2006, I started to share my time between my two countries, France and Canada, still operating as a wine importer. I specialized in Bordeaux, which was and still is my reference!
Today I operate Nobilis Wine Importers in Alberta. A small, passionate and efficient company that is proudly introducing Albertans to some of the most classic estates as well as new and upcoming talents, that all share the same respect for wine.
Nicole Palmer
Nicole Palmer is the Alberta Sales Manager for Nobilis Wine Importers and has worked with the company since early 2018.
While residing south of Calgary, Nicole and her husband and their two daughters are also cattle ranchers, and she loves balancing the fast-paced wine industry with the quiet and calm of horses, cattle and farm life.
Nicole is passionate and driven about the suppliers and products Nobilis Wine Importers works with and cherishes the relationships that she continuously builds with her clients. Trust and reliability are essential to her, and she revels in presenting exquisite wines, spirits and ciders to the Alberta market while providing support and enthusiasm to every working relationship.
Cathy Choi
Cathy Choi is the Northern Alberta Territory Manager for Nobilis Wine Importers and joined in the summer of 2018.
She grew up in the restaurant world and had always helped with the family businesses, so being in the hospitality industry was a natural fit. Her past experiences include working in some of Edmonton's top restaurants, wine boutiques and wine agencies.
Before joining Nobilis, Cathy took a 7-year break to raise her young family. Now she balances work with being a busy mom of two in hockey and dance as extracurricular activities. Cathy is passionate about working with a fantastic portfolio and learning from the best in the industry. She looks forward to continuing to showcase Nobilis and build great relationships in the Alberta market.
Jack Wear
Jack benefits from a long experience in this industry, having operated his own agency for a while. He is also a published author of the novel “A Taste of Murder.”
