The vineyard planted on granite soil is located on the high slopes of the Northern Rhone. No pesticides are used but a meticulous care of the vines: sensitive decompacting of the soil leaving grass between the rows to maintain a microbial life; green harvest and, of course, manual cropping. Here, the wine is rich but very clean and pure. It is not only another Viognier but more like a nectar from the neighbouring vineyard of Condrieu.

Planted in 1919, the 100-year-old Grenache vineyard is located on the Mediterranean coast near the historic village of Gruissan (southeast of Narbonne), more precisely on the oriental part of present-day Island “Saint Martin”, facing Gruissan salt flats. On a clay-limestone soil swept by the wind, most of the centenary Grenache vines plants are laid-down anarchically on the ground, as if over time, living the hard constraints of this place, each vines plants had found its place. This Grenache develops singular aromas, discrete, but without losing strength, combining roasted coffee and chocolate notes, held by a very delicate, airy structure.

Aromas reminiscent of fragrant purple flower, woodland berry, eucalyptus and new leather waft out of the glass. Juicy, savory and incredibly easy to drink, the smooth palate features succulent Marasca cherry, raspberry and licorice. Bright acidity and polished tannins keep it fresh and balanced. Drink through 2022. KERIN O’KEEFE
